Salty's Bakery was born out of a passion for baking that began during graduate school, where it became a source of comfort and creativity during challenging times. Throughout those years, my constant companion was Salty, my 6-year-old orange cat, who has faithfully watched me bake from the kitchen counter since the very beginning. Named in his honor, Salty's Bakery reflects the warmth, resilience, and joy that he brought to my life and to every baking session. What started as a personal hobby—experimenting with everything from Chinese mooncakes to Japanese cotton cheesecake to French macarons—has now grown into a small business dedicated to sharing the joy of homemade pastries. With a background as a researcher, I bring a unique blend of science and creativity to baking, carefully refining recipes that highlight high-quality ingredients while allowing for flexibility in flavors and aesthetics. My goal is to create delicious, thoughtfully crafted baked goods that bring warmth and happiness to every bite.
